Played by NO ACTOR – BOOK CHARACTER
A NEW WORLD
A smart young girl of German descent who was cast adrift onto a lifeboat by her parents when the threat of the virus emerges, Lia soon finds herself lost and alone on an island with the indigenous people who populate the region. After saving the life of the Priestess’ sister with the medication in her possession, Lia was welcomed into the Natives tribe, despite their fierce mistrust of foreigners and the disaster to the world that they have brought.
Knowing that she had to start anew, Lia’s quick mind began to pick up on the language of the Natives, and she soon embraced their way of life. But though she has always been in the debt of the Priestess, Lia does not share her view of the outside world – not everything is black and white. So when Jack and Lex are captured and sentenced to death for trespassing – and as a warning to any others who seek to disrupt their way of life – Lia can not sit idly by and let something happen that she knows deep down is simply not right.
Risking everything that she has gained, Lia breaks the Mall Rats free, incurring the full wrath of the Priestess and the Natives. Though the Priestess eventually learns of the Mall Rat’s plight and true spirit, and that they are not connected to the ruthless Collective tribe, the Priestess is forced to punish Lia for her betrayal. Lia is cast out and shunned from the Natives forever. Though her entire life is shattered, Lia is warmly welcomed into the Mall Rats by Lex and the others.
A NEW DAWN
Settling into the Mall Rats has provided Lia with a new home and a family. Drawn to Lex despite his rogue-ish ways, Lia slowly begins to understand him and his perspective, but she continues to keep him at arm’s length. Lex seems uncertain who he really adores more – Lia or the Priestess.
With Connor’s arrival, Lia joins Lex in his fierce mistrust of the newcomer. Lia immediately spots that he appears far too smooth and self assured – certain that he is hiding something. This sentiment of hers is reinforced by her knowledge of a Native legend concerning a sea demon in human guise who would bring about destruction and despair. With his past relationship with Tai San, and his connection to the Priestess and her own visions, this only reinforces Lex’s own views on Connor. Unfortunately, everyone else dismisses their claims.
When a party is formed to track down the missing Mall Rats, Lia is torn between Lex and the Mall Rats, and her old life within the Natives. She eventually decides to take a chance and leave with Lex, which creates a deep bond between the two as they learn even more of one another. In the events that follow, they end up becoming an item.
